Christmas for me

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.' Luke 2:8-12 TNIV Bible

This is it. The incarnation, the beginning, this is why I do what I do, why I work so hard, why I spend the time I do in the ways I do, because of that baby. That miracle.

Have a great Christmas.

What Should I get the kids for Christmas?

No surprises here … I say get them some books! Not just books … they will ask for plenty of stuff they want. My experience is that kids don’t read enough. I have seen that in the classroom and in my home. I have to work a lot more with the second kid with schooling because the younger boy has grown up in a house with a lot more distractions than the older boy had. (I’m not complaining, both are doing very well. )

You may want to buy a variety of books. If they like the Potter books /movies they may like the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. My teenager has read a lot of Gordon Korman as well.

My next suggestion is music and preferably a music DVD. You don’t have to buy RAP or metal but you can find something interesting or entertaining. The visuals of the DVD may help open more doors with your child.

Drop by a record or book store that isn’t part of a chain or a big box and you will get some decent assistance.

Those are my suggestions.

For a well written article on toy buying you should read this one, it's quit good:
