Back in the swing

Thanks for reading

Although there are precious few comments posted I am amazed at the number of F2F comments I get from friends and acquaintances.

By now homework should be a regular occurence for your highschool or junior highschool child. If this is a little surprising to you, you may be having the wool pulled slightly over your eyes. Good news is you can spy on your kids! Well it's not really spying, many schools now post homework online. Some schools build it in to their own website, while others use a service such as http://moodle.org/ or http://www.k12planet.com/ In any case a good starting point is you child's school webpage.

A phone call to the school's office may get you quickly on the road to a positive involvement with your child's education. This will be a great investment of your time.

Prepared?

So you have dropped a pot of money at staples and the used bookstores. Here's a question "Are they bringing those things to class?" Are they showing up in the classroom? Are they bringing things home for homework? You must trust your kids BUT don't be afraid to check up on them. A quick note to the teacher is appreciated. They will not have time to contact each parent weekly, but they usually will reply to a brief email in a day or two.

This is a little thing that can make a big difference.

Cheers

It is here

School's in for the fall!

Homework is being set, deadlines are being set! Are you back in the routine yet? At our house we are back into nearly all our fall routines, it's like summer was never here!

Routine is good, well for me it is essential! Break my morning routine and nobody in the house will get to school or work on time. I do a lot of stuff in the mornings and the boys are starting to help a lot but mostly I run the morning show. Before you start thinking it's all old school at our place, you need to realize that my wife runs the big picture. She is the one who organizes our lives. (her favourite Christmas gift ever: palm pilot! Seriously she gets excited about calendars)

That's the tip for today... routine!
