Honest, I won't listen to it in class.
Are you kidding me? If a kid brings an ipod, mp3, cell phone, gadget to school there is a very high probability they will at least be trying to use it in the classroom. This is a distraction! For your child and their classmates. Please do not let your kid bring that sort of stuff to school it will cause problems. DO NOT let them bring it to school. They will not need it ... they can find something to doduring their 1 hour of freetime. How about homework ...read a book, the newspaper, check their hockey pool? Maybe make some new friends instead of zoning out to the tunes. Don't get me wrong I have a minidisc player that I block with my tunes and there are more similar devices throughtout my house but NONE of them go to school.
And by the way if you give your kid a cell phone; here are some tips
1. Get a second job
2. don't call them during class time.
If you want to drive a teacher insane here are some other tips:
1.give your kid a cell phone
2. give your kid an MP3 player
3. take all your kids pen's pencils etc.
4. send them to class with the cell phone and the MP3 BUT without a pen or pencil
5.call them during class time.
All this has happened this week in at least my school probably others ...
But I'm not bitter.

HI BOB!
I am not sure you remember me, but you should...haha...I am the "kid" from music camp who you said you always wanted to take home with you. Glenda Curtis' daughter - Tammy. I am Tammy Williams now, living in Oregon, USA and expecting a baby of my own. Can you believe it? Strange how life passes by so quickly. I came across you blog through Lynette's and I thought I had to say hi. I hope you are doing well and that you are not getting too overwhelmed by the new technology that is available to students these days. I completely agree that it is a distraction for both the teacher and the student.
Take care and many blessings,
Tammy
